Liverpool fans agree with Gary Neville’s huge praise for Fabinho

Gary Neville believes Fabinho is currently the best defensive midfielder in world football.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a superb first year at Liverpool, overcoming a slow start to become one of the Reds’ most important players.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, Neville said Fabinho is unrivalled in his position currently:

Fabinho at the moment is the best.

He steps up the pitch and wins the ball. And most importantly he doesn’t just pass it sideways to the centre-backs. He plays vertically.

These Liverpool supporters have been reacting to the former Manchester United player’s comments on Twitter.

Such is the subjective nature of football, fans will always have differing opinions on who the best players are in their respective positions.

Fabinho is clearly among the finest holding midfielders around, though, especially on current form.

The Brazil international has become a colossus in the middle of the park, knitting things together and breaking up opposition attacks.

The likes of N’Golo Kante, Sergio Busquets and Casemiro are also worthy of a mention, among others, but Jurgen Klopp likely wouldn’t swap Fabinho for anyone.
