Liverpool are closing in on a deal with Nike, one that will see the American company manufacture the club’s kit for the 2020/21 season and beyond.
As per a report from Chris Bascombe of The Telegraph, the arrangement between the Reds and Nike will be one of the most lucrative kit deals in world football, with Liverpool set to earn much more than the £45m per year they currently receive from New Balance.
Whilst finances are clearly important when it comes to choosing the next kit manufacturer, Liverpool also want to ensure that they work with a company who can improve the distribution of their kits across the world.
Whilst the deal with Nike isn’t quite signed, sealed and delivered, it looks like they will be Liverpool’s choice of kit manufacturer as the Reds have been unhappy with some parts of the distribution arrangements that New Balance have in place and as such, want to go for a major brand.
Manchester United currently have the most expensive kit deal in England, worth £75m a year, and Liverpool are looking for a similar arrangement with Nike.
