Four Findings: MK Dons 0-2 Liverpool

Round three of the League Cup granted a host of youngsters and a few veterans a run out for Liverpool, as they eased past MK Dons with a 2-0 victory at Stadium MK.

Having beaten Chelsea on Sunday and preparing for the early fixture against Sheffield United on Saturday, Jurgen Klopp fielded a completely new side.

Peppered with youth, a host of fledgling talent were given the opportunity to impress and accepted the challenge.

Harvey Elliot, Ki-Jana Hoever and Curtis Jones, in particular, all put in shifts that are likely to earn them some more minutes as they compete for a place in the first team this season.

MK Dons might have had the initial opportunity, but the Reds dominated the first half, imposing themselves on the home side and eventually going ahead before the break.

James Milner benefited after goalkeeper Stuart Moore spilled a long-range shot into the net – it was richly deserved.

The second half began a little slower, but the Reds continued to push for another goal.

In the 69th minute, Milner turned provider and found Hoever at the far post for a powerful header to double the Reds’ lead.

Here are four findings from the match.
