Fulham seeking compensation for Elliott – how much could he eventually be worth?

The most exciting aspect of Liverpool’s 2-0 win at MK Dons was the performance of Harvey Elliott.

The 16-year-old shone on his Reds debut, showing exactly why he is rated as one of the best English players of his generation.

Elliott joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer, but the TimesPaul Joyce claims the Championship club are “seeking compensation” for him, in the region of £7 million.

He adds that the issue is “likely to be resolved by Professional Football Compensation Committee”, with his report stating that “the compensation process offers some protection to Fulham for an England youth international who cannot sign a professional contract until he turns 17 next April.”

Elliott was outstanding at Stadium MK, with his all-round display receiving rave reviews after the game.

His touch, intelligence and general ability caught the eye, on a night when he stood out above his fellow Liverpool youngsters.

Jurgen Klopp will likely be cautious when it comes to using him in the first team regularly, but on this evidence, he could become an effective substitute in games this season.

Age is just a number at the end of the day and Elliott possesses a fearlessness that could thrive at the top level straight away.

It will be interesting to see if he makes the squad for Saturday’s trip to Sheffield United.
