On Thursday, Liverpool Football Club’s application to trademark the word “Liverpool” was rejected.
The club submitted their application to the Intellectual Property Office to trademark the city name back in July, relating to football products and services.
Liverpool were criticised by supporters for the proposal, however, with concerns that it would affect local football clubs and companies.
It is, therefore, no surprise to see positivity surrounding the decision, with fans reacting to the news on Twitter.

Read Liverpool Verdict
This is the correct decision, especially considering the backlash Liverpool suffered after their initial proposal.
It was an idea that represented a rare misstep by the club, at a time when they are so well run off the pitch.
Not only would it have potentially affected the local community, but the unrest surrounding the news could even have had a detrimental effect on Jurgen Klopp’s side.
