Giggs hints that James will be fit to face Liverpool – he is a threat to the Reds’ chances

Daniel James is likely to be one of Manchester United’s biggest threats when Liverpool head to Old Trafford.

The Reds make the trip to their bitter rivals on Sunday afternoon, looking to retain their incredible 100 percent winning start to the Premier League season.

United have a number of injury worries ahead of the game, not to mention a complete lack of form, and James also appeared to be a doubt on Sunday night.

The young winger was seemingly knocked out after suffering a head injury in Wales’ 1-1 draw with Croatia, in their Euro 2020 qualifier.

Manager Ryan Giggs shrugged after any fears surrounding his involvement, however, bizarrely claiming to Sky Sports that he was acting hurt:

Dan James went down and stayed down with a bit of acting really, but the medical staff went over and he was compos mentis.

Then at half-time we did all the (concussion) tests and he was fine.

James has been one of the few positives to emerge from United’s season to date, impressing since his summer move from Swansea City.

Although a slightly one-dimensional footballer on current evidence, his blistering speed and eye for goal make him a threat to Liverpool’s chances this weekend.

His battle with Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to be a defining one, as the Reds look to win at Old Trafford for the first time since 2014.

With numerous key attacking players out for United, including Anthony Martial, James’ importance will be even greater on Sunday.
