Liverpool have experienced their fair share of heartbreak during the Jurgen Klopp era, from losing the 2018 Champions League final to missing out on Premier League glory by a single point last season.

The Reds didn’t let those near misses affect them, however, clinching Champions League glory back in June.

They are also eight points clear of Manchester City in the title race, as they look to win what would be the most precious of league crowns.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Trent Alexander-Arnold claims the heartbreak has spurred Liverpool on, helping them reach their current unstoppable level:

The players that we have in our side have all had failures before, we’ve all had setbacks and knockbacks.

We’ve really bounced back from there and got to where we are now and where we are as a team.

The biggest example of that is probably the fact that we lost the Champions League final the season before and were able to use that as motivation to get back there and win it the next season.

It’s something a lot of teams aren’t capable of, but we’ve showed that we are and we’re able to get better from disappointment.

Alexander-Arnold is spot on in his assessment, with this Liverpool outfit made of extremely stern stuff these days.

There is a winning mentality that now exists, and rather than shrink after their recent disappointments, they have grown immeasurably.

We must not take this wonderful Reds outfit for granted, as they continue to wow us with their brilliance on a regular basis.
