Marko Grujic has been one of Liverpool’s most successful loan players in the last 12 months, thriving at Hertha Berlin.
The midfielder has earned rave reviews for his performances in the Bundesliga, with some tipping him to return to the Reds’ first-team squad next season.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Grujic admits he misses Liverpool and realises he must find a consistently high level in order to succeed under Jurgen Klopp:
It’s not easy to become a part of the Liverpool squad, I can see myself in the red shirt but I have to become more experienced before I can wear it again.
I want to improve my physical performance and take my concentration to another level. I want to be ready for Liverpool so I will have a chance to get into the team.
Sometimes I miss Liverpool, of course, it’s one of the greatest teams in the world, but for my development it’s more important to play regularly right now.

Grujic struggled to adapt at Liverpool when he first joined in 2016, but it is easy to forget how young he was.
Still only 23 now, he looks a formidable midfielder – one that is tailor-made to thrive in a Klopp side.
Physical, intelligent and good on the ball, he could become a key member of the squad, especially with the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum all either over or approaching 30 years of age.
With some young players, it’s hard to see them ever making the grade at Liverpool, but Grujic feels different.
