Former Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey has heaped plenty of praise on James Milner.
Milner scored a stoppage-time penalty against Leicester City before the international break to maintain Liverpool’s 100% winning start to the campaign.
Manager Jurgen Klopp loves Milner, mainly because of his work-rate and versatility. As quoted on the official Liverpool website, Heskey said:
He was our penalty taker at Villa. He knows what he wants, he knows what he wants to do. He’s so calm and confident. Nothing fazes him.
He was huge. Not only a leader on the pitch but off the pitch as well. To play so many games from such a young age, and to evolve as he has, has been fantastic.
He’s a lad that’s been looking after his body properly for many a year, so I’m guessing he’ll still go for a few more years if he wants to.

Definitely. Milner never complains about anything, he just puts his head down and gets on with the job he’s been given.
Whether that’s at left-back, central midfield or even on the wing, Milner will always give his full effort for the team and that’s what makes him so valuable to Klopp.
His penalties are also a bonus. He’s immaculate from 12 yards and that came in handy against the Foxes in what could end up being a title-deciding victory.
His name will never really be up in the lights alongside Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah, but he certainly deserves to be.
