Liverpool are interested in signing Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old was sidelined with a serious knee injury until last month, but that hasn’t put off potential suitors.

Chelsea are also believed to be keen on bringing in the England-capped star, along with the Reds.

The Premier League pair are “monitoring the situation” and will consider a bid “should he prove his form and fitness this season.”

Cook would be an interesting signing by Liverpool, potentially suiting Jurgen Klopp’s style well.

Classy in possession and hard-working, the youngster could prove to be an increasingly important squad member at Anfield.

James Milner is not getting any younger, while the likes of Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum are also approaching 30.

Cook would represent a long-term acquisition – someone who could blossom into an effective performer for the Reds.

He needs to perform well before a decision is made, however, considering the severity of his knee injury.
