Gelhardt is clearly a special talent, and given Jurgen Klopp’s penchant for giving young players a chance, Liverpool would be the perfect option for the Wigan star.

Admittedly, it is extremely difficult to break into the first-team currently, but Gelhardt could thrive for the under-23s or initially enjoy a spell out on loan.

He looks a special long-term prospect, so having him in the Reds’ ranks would be a shrewd move.
