James Milner has revealed that “talks” have taken place over signing a new deal at Liverpool, but nothing is set in stone yet.
The 33-year-old has become a hugely popular figure since joining on a free transfer from Manchester City back in 2015.
His arrival wasn’t met with too much joy at the time, but he has become an invaluable member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad, whether it be because of his experience, intelligence, consistency or penalty-taking ability.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Milner admitted there have been discussions over a new deal, with his current one expiring next summer.
There have been talks so hopefully it gets resolved sooner rather than later, but at this moment I’ll just keep playing football as well as I can.

Milner may be approaching his 34th birthday, but such is his incredible professionalism, he has plenty more left in the tank.
Extending the midfielder’s stay on Merseyside for another season makes complete sense, even if he is only a fringe player.
His influence in the dressing room is huge and it would be a shame to see him leave at the end of the season.
Then again, if Milner’s boyhood club Leeds United earn promotion to the Premier League, he could find a return to Elland Road too hard to turn down.
