Harry Kane is hoping Tottenham Hotspur can take the momentum from their emphatic Champions League win this week into Sunday’s game against Liverpool.
Kane captained and scored twice for Spurs as they routed to a 5-0 triumph over Red Star Belgrade in North London, days before they visit Anfield in what’s expected to be a showcase fixture.
Speaking to Sky Sports after full-time, the England striker recognised the job at hand on Merseyside, but seems determined to put a dent into the Reds’ Premier League title hopes:
We’ve got a very tough game on Sunday that hopefully, we can take this momentum into. It’s always better when you’re coming in off a win, but Liverpool have started the season very well so we need to make sure we have a performance like tonight.
Many Liverpool fans took to social media to have their say on Kane’s comments, with the majority laughing off the idea of Spurs leaving Anfield with anything…

READ LIVERPOOL’S VERDICT
If form on paper is anything to go by, it’d be a major surprise if Spurs were to take a point from the game this weekend, never mind three!
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be hungry to bounce back from dropping points against Manchester United last time out and the high-profile clash presents a perfect opportunity to do so.
Spurs will be eyeing for vengeance following defeat in the Champions League Final though, and anything can happen at the end of the day.
