Oxlade-Chamberlain tipped to be a “big, big player” for Liverpool this season

On Wednesday, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain enjoyed his best night in a Liverpool shirt since suffering a cruciate ligament injury in 2018.

The 26-year-old scored twice in the Reds’ 4-1 victory away to Genk in the Champions League, with his second of the night a Goal of the Season contender.

Oxlade-Chamberlain seems to be getting better by the game, as he looks to return to his previous best, and Tim Sherwood has hailed his importance moving forward.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Sherwood claimed he will not only be vital for Liverpool this season, but also England at Euro 2020:

I believe, giving him a run of games, hasn’t materialised yet cause of injuries, Jurgen Klopp will get the best out of that kid.

He for sure will be a big, big player for Liverpool and England.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s display on Wednesday was so encouraging, after such a horrible time with injuries.

It is easy to forget how key he was during the second-half of the 2017/18 and he is giving Jurgen Klopp a selection headache ahead of the weekend.

Liverpool entertain Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and Oxlade-Chamberlain is in contention to start.

It may be that Klopp reverts to using Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum in front of Fabinho, but both will be under pressure to perform, especially the former.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is threatening to be back to his best, which is a massive positive for anyone of a Reds persuasion.
