Zinchenko set to miss Man City’s clash with Liverpool

Manchester City will be without Oleksandr Zinchenko for their huge Premier League clash with Liverpool next month.

The two title favourites lock horns at Anfield on November 10th, in what many feel could be a vital afternoon in the race for league glory.

Rodri has been added to City’s growing list of casualties and will miss the game, with the same applying with Zinchenko.

The left-back has undergone minor surgery on a knee injury, keeping him out of action for around six weeks.

Speaking in his pre-Aston Villa press conference on Friday, Pep Guardiola confirmed that Zinchenko will not be available for selection at Anfield:

He had a contact with a knee, felt something in the bone and has to stop. He had something to clean up the knee. It was not a big issue.

Five or six weeks.

City are tackling something of a defensive injury crisis at the moment, with Aymeric Laporte a huge loss.

Rodri and Fernandinho, normally both central midfielders, having been playing at centre-back, highlighting a lack of options and quality in that area.

Zinchenko’s absence is another blow for City, even though Benjamin Mendy is back fit again.

Liverpool have to believe they can disturb their rivals’ back-line at Anfield – here’s hoping the Reds don’t suffer similarly with injuries before then.
