Liverpool manager has hailed the importance of defensive midfielder Fabinho to his side’s style of play.
The Brazilian, who has nailed down a starting position in the Liverpool side, has made a hugely impressive start to the new season.

He operates as a defensive midfielder and provides good cover for the defenders, whilst also giving the platform for the attacking players to express themselves.
As quoted on the Independent, Klopp said:
The Genk game was a good example of how important he is. Very!
It was clear it was not perfectly-tuned with Naby and Ox around because they didn’t play a lot together in this formation, but it is a possible formation for sure.
The job of the six in modern football is incredibly important and the more offensive the players around you are, the more important it gets.
But he is not only a gap-closer and a challenger, he is a very good footballer as well.
Is Klopp right to praise Fabinho?

Absolutely. After making a relatively quiet start to his life at the club, Fabinho has risen to become one of the first names on the team sheet.
He’s good in the air, reads the game brilliantly and calm with the ball in possession, all perfect assets for a successful holding midfielder.
Klopp’s description of him as a “gap-closer” is fascinating, because it shows how much thought the manager puts into ensuring there is no space for opposing sides. He’ll be hoping to nullify Spurs on Sunday.
