Martin Odegaard has been loosely linked with joining Liverpool next summer, having caught the eye with his performances on loan at Real Sociedad this season.
The 20-year-old is showing signs of reaching his vast potential, so it’s no great surprise to hear that permanent employers Real Madrid are keen on keeping hold of him.
That’s according to AS, who claim that Odegaard and a number of other loanees, including Arsenal’s Dani Ceballos, “all appear to be doing what is necessary to ensure a return to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of this season.”
There was some hope that Odegaard would be moved on by Madrid, but that now appears to be unlikely.

There was never any concrete proof of Liverpool’s interest in Odegaard, but either way, it is a shame that he may be staying put.
The Norwegian would have been an exciting addition to the Reds’ squad, bringing technical quality and youth to it.
For his own personal sake, staying at Madrid would be a risk, given their reputation for not often promoting youth.
A move away could be more beneficial to him, but the lure of being given a chance at Santiago Bernabeu may end up being too good to turn down.
