Liverpool sent scouts to watch Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir on Thursday night, as the Turkish side lost 3-1 away to Krasnodar.
The 23-year-old didn’t start, however, as manager Unal Karaman made a host of changes for the Europa League clash.
Cakir is highly-rated and being tracked by a number of big clubs including Manchester United, with RB Leipzig now also in the mix to sign him.
Speaking to Radyo Gol, with quotes provided by Sport Witness, TRT Spor journalist Baris Yurduseven confirmed Liverpool and Leipzig’s interest:
I’m the first person who said Liverpool are interested in Ugurcan Cakir and now I know that RB Leipzig are also seriously interested in him.

Liverpool’s apparent interest in Cakir does seem a little strange, considering the strength of goalkeeping options at Anfield currently.
Alisson is arguably the best ‘keeper in the world at the moment, while Adrian shone in the Brazilian’s absence at the start of the season.
Meanwhile, youngsters Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara are seen as exciting young options between the sticks.
One of the explanations could be that Cakir is a seen as a better long-term deputy to Alisson, with Adrian almost a decade older than him.
