Trent Alexander-Arnold was once again a star performer for Liverpool on Sunday, as they beat Manchester City 3-1 at Anfield.

The 21-year-old showed exactly why he is considered the world’s best attacking right-back, with one superb pass to Andy Robertson playing an important role in Mohamed Salah’s goal.

Alexander-Arnold’s reputation is growing all the time, with some tipping him to be a future legend for club and country.

Someone who is a huge admirer of the boyhood Red is Gary Lineker, who cannot get enough of him at the moment.

The England legend took to Twitter during Sunday’s game to shower Alexander-Arnold with praise, even ridiculing anyone who doesn’t rate him:

Lineker is right to laud the brilliance of the youngster, who is enjoying a magnificent run of form.

It is easy to over-hype young players at times, particularly homegrown talents, but Alexander-Arnold is something special.

Without putting needless pressure on his shoulders, he should be looking to be the Steven Gerrard of this generation, particularly if he ends up moving to midfield.

That’s how talented he is.
