Bernardo Silva has received a one-match suspension from the FA, according to the Times‘ Martyn Ziegler.

The ban has come the Portuguese’s way because of an “racially offensive tweet” to Manchester City teammate Benjamin Mendy.

It means Silva will miss City’s crucial Premier League clash with Chelsea on November 23rd, as Pep Guardiola’s side look to bounce back from Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Liverpool.

Frank Lampard’s Blues side are currently third in the table, one point clear of City.

These Liverpool supporters have reacted to the news of Silva’s suspension on Twitter.

The timing does seem a little convenient from a City perspective, with the ban arriving straight after the Liverpool game.

Silva may have scored at Anfield, but it was only a consolation and his participation proved largely irrelevant, though.

Although the forward hasn’t found his best form yet this season, he will still be a big loss when City host Chelsea.

Silva was arguably his team’s Player of the Year in 2018/19, as they just edged out Liverpool in the title race.
