Pepijn Lijnders is a hugely influential part of Jurgen Klopp’s coaching staff, thriving in his role as assistant manager.
The Dutchman has even taken on press conference duties from time to time, always proving to be insightful and passionate.
Many were concerned when Klopp’s former deputy Zeljko Buvac moved on, but Lijnders is arguably doing an even better job.
Liverpool have created a remarkable winning mentality in the last 12 months or so, losing just one of their last 51 Premier League games.
Speaking to the official Liverpool FC magazine, Lijnders outlined how the Reds have created a “culture of perfection”:
We searched to create a culture of preparation inside our club, a culture of perfection, and we can feel this now in all the people through all the departments of the club.
But we looked at it game by game, not searching for the records. In my opinion, a long number of wins is only possible with a lot of dedication and effort by all the staff, from the ground staff, kit management team, the analysts… everyone involved.
Each game had its own story, we had games where we dominated and owned the pitch from the start until the end and we also had games where we had to find solutions and overcome adversity.
But what was always there was the ‘chasing over the whole pitch’ attitude of the boys.

There was a time when Liverpool lacked ruthlessness, playing entertaining football but often not accumulating points.
That has completely changed, however, with Klopp, Lijnders, the other coaches and the players turning the Reds into arguably Europe’s most relentless team.
They never know when they are beaten these days, as highlighted by so many late goals this season.
It stands Liverpool in good stead, as they finally look to clinch Premier League glory.
