James Milner used to have a reputation for being boring, partly because he was an unfashionable footballer.
The 33-year-old has dispelled that myth in recent years, however, showing what a dry sense of humour he has.
Milner’s social media presence has been particularly enjoyable, with the midfielder often producing entertaining posts and never taking himself too seriously.
His latest effort is a sly dig at VAR, in which he jokes about Roberto Firmino’s armpit being given offside at Aston Villa earlier this month:

Milner is a perfect example of a player being judged without much being known about him, prior to social media become so huge.
Because of his style of play and off-field lifestyle, it was easy to lazily assume he wasn’t the most charismatic of characters.
You only have to watch videos of him and read his social media posts to realise that isn’t the case, though.
Milner is a big presence in the Liverpool squad, not only because he is a born winner, but because of his personality.
