Liverpool should firm up White interest following near-perfect Leeds display

Ben White put in another near-perfect display for Leeds United on the weekend.

The 22-year-old Brighton loanee helped the Whites defeat Luton Town in the Championship on Saturday, and it wasn’t just his usual solid defensive performance that caught the eye.

Shortly after the interval, with the deadlock yet to be broken, White picked up the ball inside his own half and drove forward before picking out Patrick Bamford with an exquisite through ball with the outside of his foot.

The Leeds striker smashed the ball home to give Marcelo Bielsa’s side the lead, with White’s part in the goal going slightly under the radar.

It’s been reported recently that Liverpool have a ‘genuine’ interest in White, so should they be considering launching a move in the coming months?

We think so. White, who is also being tracked by Manchester United, has made Championship football look easy so far this season and hasn’t put a foot wrong at Elland Road.

He’s playing with a maturity well beyond his years and would fit Jurgen Klopp’s style of play with ease.

His aggression in the tackle, awareness of reading the game and sound ability on the ball has seen him rightly labelled as one of the best performers in the second-tier.

Klopp currently has Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren available at centre-back, but with Lovren’s future up in the air, White could be the perfect replacement.

A young promising homegrown star would be greatly welcomed at Anfield, and following his latest performance, we feel that the Reds need to act in the January window.
