Liverpool are interested in signing Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina, according to La Nazione, via Calciomercato.

The 22-year-old is one of Italy’s most highly thought of young talents, having become an important player for club and country.

Liverpool have been linked with Chiesa in the past and these latest developments claim their interest remains alive.

Juventus and Inter Milan are also keen on bringing in the forward, however, so the Reds will face a battle to sign him.

Chiesa is a special talent, but like so many top players, a move to Liverpool wouldn’t be guaranteeing him regular football.

The front-three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are irreplaceable at present, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

That means Chiesa would have to accept a squad role, although the report may not be the most trustworthy.

It is a story worth keeping an eye on, but the youngster doesn’t feel like a primary transfer target.
