Gary Neville has admitted he is willing to see Liverpool’s title challenge “fall to pieces”.
For years, Neville was part of a Manchester United side that dominated English football, in what was a miserable period for anyone of a Reds persuasion.
The tables have turned, however, and Liverpool now find themselves well clear at the top of the Premier League table and favourites to win the title this season.
Neville has never hidden his dislike for the Reds, and in an interview with talkSPORT, he outlined how much he wants their challenge to evaporate:
If they blow it now, it’s going to be one of the best years I’ve had on Sky!
Honestly, it would be the most incredible experience to watch this unfold and for them have a 12-point lead and then it dissipate before my eyes.
I actually hope they have a 12-point lead in March and then really late just fall to pieces!
But I have to say, they’ve shown consistency now for two years, they’ve been playing title-winning football for two years and they’ve amassed points that in any other season would win a title.
And Man City are well below where they should be.
Liverpool will have to work hard not to win it now with where they are at. They must think it’s their year.

The rivalry between Liverpool and United has always been intense and Neville’s words sum up the hostility between the two clubs.
The Sky Sports pundit will no doubt be squirming at the thought of Jurgen Klopp’s side clinching glory, especially with Jamie Carragher often sat alongside him in the studio.
Liverpool are the obvious favourites to finally end the long wait for title glory, but Klopp and his players know that they still have a huge amount of work to do.
