Minamino could make Liverpool debut against Everton

Takumi Minamino’s Liverpool debut could come against Everton, assuming the deal goes through.

The Japanese midfielder is expected to join the Reds from Salzburg next month, for just £7.25 million.

Although nothing has been officially agreed yet, it would now be a surprise if Minamino wasn’t a Liverpool player soon.

The Mirror believe it is “likely” that the 24-year-old’s Reds debut will come in the Merseyside derby on January 5th.

Jurgen Klopp’s side host Everton in the FA Cup third round – a game that could see key men rested and Minamino take to the Anfield turf for the first time since shining there for Salzburg.

It is assumed that Minamino will become a Liverpool player on January 1st, but the home Premier League clash with Sheffield United the following day is expected to come too soon for him.

The Japan international would be an exciting signing if the deal goes through, bringing quality and energy to Liverpool’s midfield.

Virgil van Dijk famously scored the winner against Everton on his debut, hopefully Minamino can do the same.
