Takumi Minamino is the perfect player to suit Jurgen Klopp’s style of play, according to Ralf Rangnick.
The Japanese is on the verge of joining the Reds in January, having impressed against them for Salzburg in the Champions League.
Minamino is only expected to cost Liverpool £7.25 million, adding great quality and depth to their squad.
Klopp has reportedly been an admirer of the 24-year-old for a long time, rather than making a knee-jerk decision to sign him judged on performances against his team.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Rangnick, Red Bull’s head of sport and development, hailed Minamino is an ideal player to come in and thrive for Liverpool:
The style is very similar to Jurgen’s. It’s proactive, it’s high pressing, counter-pressing. Once we have won the ball we don’t want to waste any time by square passes or back passes.
We are trying to play forward as quickly as possible, trying to create chances, trying to score as many goals as possible.

Minamino could be a superb signing for the Reds, looking such a classy player in an attacking midfield role.
Not only does he possess technical class and guile, he is also extremely hard-working, which Klopp demands in his players.
It is an imminent signing that has seemingly come from nowhere – Minamino could play a big role in Liverpool’s Premier League title push.
