Liverpool lose out to Man City in race to sign Larios

Liverpool and Manchester United have missed out to Manchester City for the signing of Juan Larios.

That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim that the Barcelona wonderkid is set to move to the Etihad.

Chelsea were also linked with signing the highly-rated 15-year-old left-back, but City appears to be his next destination.

Larios is believed to see a move away from Barca as beneficial, with Jorbi Alba currently blocking his path into the first team.

It is reported that the teenager will head to City “under European Union freedom of movement laws upon turning 16 next month.”

It is also added that Liverpool were never seen as a suitor, due to “the manner in which the Merseyside club had handled the career of another of the player agency’s young prospects.”

It is always disappointing to miss out on any top young prospect, but the Reds won’t lose too much sleep about Larios’ decision.

There is already an abundance of talent in Liverpool’s academy and they will continue to thrive, with the likes of Yasser Larouci and Adam Lewis both exciting left-backs.

Whether or not Larios can make the grade at City remains to be seen, especially with their reputation for often not promoting youth.
