Takumi Minamino has successfully completed his medical and is expected to be officially announced as a Liverpool player before the weekend, according to Melissa Reddy of The Independent.
The Japanese international was on Merseyside today to complete his medical and finalise the terms of his move to Liverpool and according to Reddy, the Reds are set to announce his signing before Saturday’s Club World Cup final.
Minamino won’t officially become a Liverpool player until January 1st, thus meaning he won’t be available for selection for the game on January 2nd against Sheffield United.
Therefore, he could make his debut in the FA Cup third-round clash against Everton at Anfield a few days later.
Jurgen Klopp, speaking after Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Monterrey joked that he could have done with having Minamino as part of his squad over in Qatar but refused to answer any questions about the arrival of the Japanese star as the deal has not officially been confirmed.
