Virgil van Dijk says the pain of losing out on the Premier League title is spurring Liverpool on this time around.
The Reds came agonisingly close to ending their long wait for league glory, picking up a club record 97 points.
Manchester City pipped them by a solitary point, however, following a thrilling title race.
Liverpool find themselves 13 points clear at the top this season, having failed to win only once in 19 league games.
In quotes provided by Goal, Van Dijk revealed last season’s agony is acting as motivation for Jurgen Klopp’s side:
The whole experience from last year, doing well in the league, only losing one time, winning the Champions League, the whole experience has been helping us so far in our journey this season.
We came very close, unfortunately, City were just a little bit better but that spurred us on to try even harder this year and so we have been winning games, grinding games out and playing good football at times.
We enjoy the hard work too so that is very good. Hopefully, we can just keep going doing that and just be hungry for that as well.
We should be learning from what happened last year and I feel that is definitely what has been going on.

The mental fortitude shown by Liverpool to bounce back this season has been extraordinary, especially considering how much they put into their 2018/19 campaign.
While City have struggled to recapture their best form, the Reds have become an even more formidable side.
There is a growing feeling that this really is going to be their year, although there is still plenty of work to do.
