Klopp reveals why he “killed the mood” in the dressing room after Wolves win

Jurgen Klopp admits he was unhappy about Liverpool’s performance against Wolves, despite his side getting all three points.

The Reds edged past their opponents on Sunday, with Sadio Mane’s strike earning them a 1-0 win.

The European champions were never at their best, though, on a day when they had to battle their way over the finish line.

Klopp admits he told a few home truths after the game, ensuring a much improved display is produced at home to Sheffield United on Thursday evening:

I don’t know exactly what the boys said after but we were not happy with all parts of the game.

We were happy with the result, but the game gave us a lot of space for improvement, you don’t have to be a super football brain to see that.

I told the boys what I thought we should have done better immediately after the game and maybe that killed the winning mood.

I was really happy about the result but we have to work on performances.

We never did it and should not start lying to ourselves like everything is fine when it’s not because we have to make sure that we improve. We will do, 100%.

It doesn’t matter that Liverpool won against Wolves, the manager saw things he was unhappy with and is demanding improvements.

Klopp will be well aware that any dip in standards could give the chasing pack some hope of a comeback in the Premier League title race.

Hopefully, the Blades will feel the wrath of Liverpool on Thursday, as the Reds look to make a perfect start to 2020.
