Liverpool showed late interest in signing Norwich City star Adam Idah back in 2017, according to The Athletic.
Idah joined the Canaries in February 2017, following his 16th birthday, arriving from College Corinthians.
It was described as a ‘nervous period’ for Norwich, however, as they hoped bigger clubs wouldn’t come in for the teenager.
Liverpool and Celtic were two who ‘fished for a late deal’, but neither managed to snap up Idah.
In the time since, the 18-year-old Irishman has made his Premier League debut, also bagging an FA Cup hat-trick against Preston on Saturday.

It’s unrealistic to think that Liverpool will be able to complete deals to sign every young player they show an interest in but, in our opinion, it is highly encouraging to see that the club are so invested in looking to recruit the best young players, not only in England but across the world.
Jurgen Klopp has shown that he’s willing to trust young players, as shown by Trent Alexander-Arnold going from academy prospect to first-team regular, but in order for the manager to continue to promote youngsters, the club’s recruitment staff need to continue to find quality youth players to bring in and develop and it looks like they were doing that in 2017, as highlighted by the interest in Idah, and they’ve continued to do it, as shown by the summer captures of Harvey Elliott and Sepp Van Den Berg.
