Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat away to Tottenham in October 2017 was arguably the lowest point of Jurgen Klopp’s reign as manager.
For the first time, the German was questioned by some, as the Reds were embarrassed at Wembley.
Since then, however, Liverpool have become an all-conquering force, reaching the Champions League final later that season, before winning it the following year.
They also accumulated 97 points in the Premier League last season and now lead the way by 13 points this time around.
These Liverpool supporters believe that defeat back in 2017 ended up being a key one for all the right reasons.

Read Liverpool Verdict
That humbling 4-1 loss is the most important defeat of Klopp’s tenure, in my opinion.
It appeared to make the manager realise how much defensive reinforcements were required and Virgil van Dijk arrived a few months later, and Alisson the following summer.
The pair transformed Klopp’s side as a defensive unit, as did emerging duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson.
Since that fateful day, Liverpool have played 87 league games, winning 67, drawing 16 and losing just four.
It is an astonishing record, and without that defeat to Spurs hitting home, the Reds may never have reached these current heights.
Sometimes you need a bad result to act as a blessing in disguise – Liverpool’s Wembley humiliation was definitely one of those.
