Liverpool have rejected a loan bid for Xherdan Shaqiri from Roma, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Serie A side were eyeing up a bid for the 28-year-old, following a season-ending injury to key midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
Liverpool see him as an important squad player between now and the end of the season, however, and never entertained the idea of letting him go.
These Reds supporters have applauded the decision on Twitter, showing their happiness at Shaqiri staying put.

I’m pleased with his stand. I still want Shaqiri to be our new Gary Mac, he needs to step up

Read Liverpool Verdict
Liverpool were never going to benefit from letting Shaqiri leave in January, in my opinion.
He might not be as indispensable as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, but we think he will be a key squad player between now and May.
Shaqiri has chipped in with one goal in the Premier League in 2019/20 and I believe more will arrive in the coming months.
Klopp will want to ease the workload of his attackers when Champions League football returns, providing the Swiss with more opportunities to thrive from the start of games.
I personally think Shaqiri will leave in the summer looking for more regular action, at which point he will hopefully depart as a Premier League champion.
