Klopp still likes Liverpool target Tonali ‘a lot’

Jurgen Klopp still likes Sandro Tonali ‘a lot’, according to Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness.

Liverpool were linked with a move for the Brescia midfielder last year, but nothing has materialised to date, with Tonali told he was going nowhere.

It appears as though the Reds’ interest in the 19-year-old remains, however, although he will cost them a minimum of €50 million.

Tonali has three caps for Italy to his name, with some comparing him to legendary former midfielder Andrea Pirlo, in terms of style.

I think Tonali is a fantastic prospect – someone with the ability to lead Italy’s midfield for years to come.

The youngster has chipped in with one goal and two assists for Brescia this season, averaging 1.9 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game.

That being said, I don’t feel there is a need for new midfielders at Liverpool, such is the depth at Klopp’s disposal.

The likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum are key regulars, while Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Adam Lallana and Takumi Minamino represent good options, too.

Granted, I understand that some of those named above aren’t getting any younger, but splashing out big money on Tonali feels needless for the time being.
