Liverpool can eclipse Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’, claims Vieira

Liverpool could match Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’ and possibly even usurp them, according to Patrick Vieira.

The Gunners went the entire 2003/04 Premier League season unbeaten, winning 26 and drawing 12 of their matches.

Remarkably, Liverpool have dropped just two points in their opening 21 games of the campaign, leading to some tipping them to match Arsenal’s efforts.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Vieira admits Jurgen Klopp’s side have what it takes to achieve the same feat his team did 16 years ago:

They can do it and they can do it with more wins than we had.

The spirit, the togetherness, the momentum and the belief are all there. They have been unbelievable, but they didn’t just build this team last year, it has taken them five years.

When you have time, it is good for a manager.

I don’t think Liverpool will go the whole season unbeaten, simply by the law of averages.

This is taking nothing away from what a magical team they are, but somewhere along the way, I believe they will come unstuck in a game or two.

Admittedly, just one league defeat in 60 suggests otherwise, but the run will end at some point.

Liverpool still have trips to Manchester City and a reinvigorated Arsenal to contend with, as well as home clashes with Manchester United and Chelsea.

If they do manage an invincible season of their own, they will almost certainly eclipse Arsenal’s tally of 90 points, cementing their status as one of the greatest English sides in history.

I personally believe Liverpool will win the title, but end up losing a couple of games, potentially when the job of sealing league glory is already done.
