Four Findings: Liverpool 2-0 Man United

With a finish for the ages, Mohamed Salah sent Liverpool deeper into dreamland with a 2-0 win over Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

Against their fiercest rivals, the Reds surged 16 points clear in their relentless quest to claim their first league title in 30 years.

The scoreline does not tell the tale of the domination Liverpool imposed on United – for most of the match, they had more goals overruled by VAR than the visitors had shots on target.

The Reds jumped into an early lead, with Virgil van Dijk heading home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner kick in the 14th minute.

At that point, only a dubious VAR call kept the match from breaking wide open, with Roberto Firmino robbed of a memorable goal.

Despite Liverpool tightening the screw and pulling United all over the pitch, they could not get a second goal.

Then, after 90 minutes of tense play, Alisson picked the moment to notch his first assist as a Red, picking out Salah behind United’s defence on the halfway line.

The Egyptian did the rest, racing past everyone and finding the net in front of the Kop. Pandemonium ensued.

Here are four findings from the match…
