Xherdan Shaqiri will miss Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Thursday evening, having picked up a calf issue in training.
The 28-year-old was also absent from Sunday’s 2-0 win over Manchester United, which took to the Reds 16 points clear of Manchester City.
Shaqiri’s injury is a frustrating one, but chances are he wouldn’t have featured prominently at Molineux, having only started three matches this season.
With the weekend trip to Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup allowing Jurgen Klopp rest key men, I don’t think it would be a surprise to see an unchanged team from the United game.
Despite this, having Shaqiri back for the business end of the season would be a welcome bonus, allowing Klopp to rotate when the Champions League returns.
This could be the Swiss’ final season at Anfield, in my opinion, so it would be nice to see him go out on a high.
