Liverpool will not be selling Xherdan Shaqiri during the January transfer window, according to the Times‘ Paul Joyce on Twitter.

The Swiss is reportedly wanted by Roma and Sevilla, who are keen on signing him on loan this month.

Liverpool have no interest in letting him go until the end of the season, however, when they will demand €30 million for his services.

Shaqiri is currently sidelined with a calf injury, meaning he will miss Thursday’s trip to Wolves.

Allowing Shaqiri to leave on loan in January makes no sense, in my opinion, so Liverpool have made the correct decision.

The 28-year-old is a good squad player to have around, as shown by his excellent performance against Everton last month.

I believe Shaqiri will move on at the end of the season, having struggled to ever nail down a regular first-team spot.

Roma or Sevilla would suit him well, allowing him to be a key man in a slightly slower league.
