Charlton eye up January loan move for Chirivella

Charlton Athletic are keen on signing Pedro Chirivella on loan in January, according to South London Press.

The 22-year-old has impressed for Liverpool this season, when given the chance.

He shone in the 1-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup earlier this month, in particular, and also started Sunday’s 2-2 draw away to Shrewsbury Town.

Charlton are eyeing up a temporary deal for Chirivella, however, but Liverpool are hesitant about letting him leave.

The fact that the Spaniard will surely start the cup replay with Shrewsbury on February 4th makes a deal unlikely, in my opinion.

He has become one of the standout young players at Anfield and he deserves another opportunity to catch the eye, as well as potentially in the fifth round against Chelsea.

I don’t think Chirivella would benefit greatly from a loan move away until the end of the season, when he can instead be a part of a possible Premier League title win.

He won’t feature much in the Premier League, if at all, but staying in and around the squad can help him build even more of a winning mentality ahead of a likely summer departure.

I think Chirivella should look for a permanent new club ahead of next season – he is good enough to make the grade at a lower-ranked Premier League side, or a promotion-chasing Championship outfit.

Classy on the ball, hard-working and intelligent, the youngster will be a good addition for whoever he ends up moving to.
