Liverpool fans are concerned about Wijnaldum’s comments surrounding future

Gini Wijnaldum has been a fantastic signing for Liverpool, even since he joined from Newcastle United back in 2016.

At the time, there wasn’t a hugely positive reaction to the move, with many assuming he was coming in as a backup player in the attack, having often played in a forward-thinking role at St James’ Park.

Instead, Jurgen Klopp has moulded Wijnaldum into one of the most effective, understated central midfielders in Europe, with the Dutchman possessing a mix of physicality, tactical intelligence and technical quality.

There has been some doubt surrounding the 29-year-old’s future at Liverpool, however, with recent reports even suggests the Reds may consider letting him leave this summer.

In an interview with Sky Sports News, Wijnaldum was worryingly cagey about his next step, not guaranteeing that he would sign a new deal at Anfield:

It depends on what the club wants and how the situation is at that time. We will see. [Anfield], it’s like home.

I’m just focusing on bringing this season to a good end and that’s the only thing I’m thinking of.

Needless to say, these Liverpool supporters showed their concern on Twitter, urging the midfielder to stay put.
