Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that Divock Origi only suffered from cramp against West Ham, saying he hopes the player will be fit for Saturday’s clash with Southampton.
Liverpool won 2-0 away to the Hammers on Wednesday evening, thanks to Mohamed Salah’s penalty and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s well-taken strike.
The victory lifts the Reds 19 points clear of Manchester City.
Origi was seen with ice on his leg after being substituted in the second half, but Klopp has played down the issue.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Liverpool boss said the player believes he only had cramp:
When players come off it’s always a concern, especially when you’re playing three days later.
But as much as he told me, what he had was cramps. Let’s hope that it is like this and he will be ready again (for Saturday).

This is a relief for Liverpool, who are already having to make do without the injured Sadio Mane.
Origi is a level down from his teammate, in my opinion, but he still possesses the pace and direct style to be a good replacement for him.
While I don’t think the Belgian hit top gear against West Ham, he stretched the defence out on the left and his winning of the penalty outlined his ability to deliver in big moments.
For these reasons, I would start Origi again on Saturday, assuming he has recovered from this fitness issue.
