In a week where Liverpool’s first-team are enjoying a deserved mid-season break, the U23s are set to contest an FA Cup fourth round replay against League One side Shrewsbury at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Jurgen Klopp has stuck to his guns by boycotting this game, meaning neither he or any of his regular squad players will be present for it.
As a result, for the second time this season, we will see Neil Critchley taking charge of a “first-team” game where his U23 players will take the field.
Even though Shrewsbury are playing in League One, they showed tremendous fight to come back from two goals down to force this replay.
