After all the furore leading up to the tie, due to Jurgen Klopp and his senior players not being involved, Liverpool’s youngsters defeated Shrewsbury Town 1-0 in their FA Cup fourth round replay at Anfield on Tuesday.
The game’s only goal came in the second half, when Neco Williams’ long ball was diverted into his own net by Shrewsbury centre-back Ro-Shaun Williams.
It was, in fact, the Reds’ youngest starting lineup in history, but they played with plenty of confidence on their way to a momentous victory.
They will now face a trip to Chelsea in the fifth round, following the Blues’ 2-1 win at Hull City.
Former England defender Matthew Upson produced a strange response when asked about Liverpool’s progression, telling Sky Sports’ The Debate that he would have liked to see them “pay a price” for their behaviour:
"He felt the kids could do the job and they done the job"
Has Jurgen Klopp been proved right regarding his #FACup stance?

These Liverpool supporters have reacted with a mix of anger and bemusement to Upson’s comments on Twitter.
Matthew Upson was asked by Geoff Shreeves (The Debate)
“Are you pleased that Liverpool went through?”
His reply:
“I think it would’ve been good to see them pay a price for it. I don’t think that would’ve been a bad thing for the FA Cup”
Pay a price for what exactly?

But he's on a scheduled winter break. There shouldn't be a debate.
