Kai Havertz’s future could be determined by whether or not Philippe Coutinho remains at Bayern Munich beyond this summer.
That’s according to Germany legend Michael Ballack, who told Sport1 that Bayern will make a move if Coutinho isn’t at the club:
Whether you might be obliged to do so (move for Havertz) depends on Philippe Coutinho’s future.
I don’t want to make any recommendations there, but regardless of this: if Bayern act in perspective and you still want to get the best German players, Havertz has to be brought in.
He is an exceptional player, but one thing is also clear, Havertz still needs time.
Havertz has been tipped to join Liverpool in recent weeks, with the £81 million-rated star likely to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.
Bayern appear to be strong contenders, while Manchester United are also believed to be interested in acquiring his signature, according to the Guardian.

I don’t think it is a surprise to see such interest in Havertz, considering his vast potential.
Despite still being just 20, the midfielder has scored 33 times for Leverkusen, as well as winning seven caps for Germany.
Liverpool’s midfield can look one-dimensional on a bad day, in my opinion, not that there have been many of those this season.
I feel like individuals such as Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum can sometimes lack a cutting edge in the final third – Wijnaldum has no assists this season – but Havertz carries it in abundance.
On top of his goal threat, the youngster has also registered 21 assists for Leverkusen, averaging 1.2 key passes and 1.3 dribbles per game throughout his career.
As a comparison, Henderson only averages 0.4 dribbles and Wijnaldum averages 0.9 key passes, so Havertz could bring something different to Anfield.
