Steven Gerrard admits he is “really, really interested” in seeing what happens to Manchester City, with regards to them potentially losing their 2013/14 Premier League title.

City have been given a two-year ban from European football, having been found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

They could be stripped of their 2014 league title as well, according to the Daily Mail, should they be found guilty by the Premier League, too.

This would mean 2013/14 runners-up Liverpool become champions instead, giving Gerrard the Premier League winners’ medal he always craved.

Speaking to reporters after Rangers’ 1-0 win over Livingston on Sunday, with quotes provided by This Is Anfield, the Reds legend spoke about the situation:

I’m really interested to see the outcome of that. Until I get the punishment from the Premier League, I won’t comment further. But I’m really, really interested in it…for obvious reasons.

It’s all ifs and buts. It is what it is. Manchester City were champions.

As I sit here right now, congratulations to them. They are champions. Until things develop, if they develop, it’s all ifs and buts.

I’ve got nothing to say on the matter.

All I say is I’m very interested because of the severity of what UEFA have put out there.

Gerrard winning the title would be a wonderful moment, considering the pain he has gone through since 2014.

We believe he is Liverpool’s greatest player of all time, given the vast influence he had over 17 years at Anfield, including inspiring the comeback in the 2005 Champions League final and almost single-handedly winning the 2006 FA Cup final.

He didn’t deserve to be a villain for his infamous slip against Chelsea, following his previous heroics throughout his career.

We also think that seeing rival fans squirm would also be funny, in a more tribal sense, considering they still sing about the slip to this day and would not want to see history altered.

Whether or not City are stripped of their title remains to be seen, but we are allowed to dream!
