Chelsea have entered the race to sign Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United target Marash Kumbulla, according to Calciomercato.

The Reds were linked with a move for the Verona centre-back last week, having already scouted the 20-year-old.

There is strong competition for Kumbulla’s services, however, with Chelsea now believed to be in the mix. The Blues are, according to the report, keen on adding centre-back options to their squad.

Napoli and Inter Milan are also seen as candidates to sign the Albanian international.

I think Kumbulla would be an excellent addition by Liverpool, coming in as a fourth-choice centre-back.

Personally, I would sell Dejan Lovren, who is not only struggling for playing time and proving to be injury-prone, but is also on high wages, currently taking home around £100,000 a week.

Moving the Croatian on would free up funds and Kumbulla would be a long-term acquisition who could come in and learn from the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

At 20, he would probably not expect to be starting regularly, which is ideal for a potential fourth-choice defender.

Would Kumbulla be an upgrade on Lovren this summer?
