N’Golo Kante looks set to miss Chelsea’s FA Cup fifth-round meeting with Liverpool through injury.

The Frenchman limped off in his side’s 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester United on Monday night.

According to L’Equipe, Kante has suffered an adductor injury, keeping him out of action for around three weeks.

That makes his involvement in the cup tie against the Reds highly unlikely, with the game at Stamford Bridge taking place on March 3rd.

While it is never nice to see opposition players pick up injuries, there is no denying that this is a boost to the Reds’ hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.

Kante has been one of the world’s most influential midfielders in recent years, winning the Premier League title with both Leicester City and Chelsea.

Without him, we think the Blues look far less dominant in the middle of the park, as proved to be the case against United when he went off.

In our view, the likes of Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho didn’t possess his ability to cover ground and bite into tackles, allowing the visitors to take control.

Assuming Jurgen Klopp picks a stronger team than those who took to the field against Everton and Shrewsbury Town in round three and four respectively, we feel as though the Reds have a great chance of going through.
