Liverpool’s Under-23s were in action on Monday afternoon, taking on Huddersfield Town in the Premier League Cup.
Neil Critchley’s young Reds eased into the last 16 with a 6-0 win, with two player seemingly standing out from the rest.
Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott registered a hat-trick of goals and assists on the day, respectively, showcasing their attacking brilliance and highlighting why they are such highly-rated figures at Anfield.
Jones has come of age this season, shining for the U23s but also proving influential for the first-team. He famously curled home the winner against Everton in the FA Cup and also scored away to Shrewsbury Town in the next round.
Meanwhile, Elliott made the move to Liverpool from Fulham last summer and quickly caught the eye in an impressive debut against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup.
He has gone to make seven first-team appearances in total this season, playing his part in the Reds getting past Shrewsbury in the replay, too.
These Liverpool supporters heaped praise on Jones and Elliott on Twitter, hailing their performances on Monday.
6-0! Jones nets a hat-trick, which is frankly ridiculous. #LFC U23s have romped this.

Yikes. Once we wrap the league up I’m going to need regular Curtis Jones minutes for the first team. https://t.co/y7ziUmiiC5
