Liverpool were not at their best against West Ham on Monday night, but once again, they managed to get over the finish line.
The Reds trailed 2-1 in the second half and it looked as though their unbeaten record could end in shock fashion, only for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to save the day with time running out.
There was nothing pretty about Mane’s late winner, with Joe Gomez’s hopeful shot deflecting into the path of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who squared the ball for the Senegalese star to tap home.
After the game, social media master James Milner was at his hilarious best, joking about Gomez being the hero for attempting his long-range effort:

It perfectly sums up Milner’s dry sense of humour, which has increasingly come to the fore in recent years.
The 34-year-old was ruled out of the game as a precaution, according to the Independent‘s Melissa Reddy on Twitter, but he could be available for Saturday’s trip to Watford.
